Your best bet would be to work on cleaning up your credit first. If you keep applying for credit cards from companies you know that will deny you, you will keep hurting your credit. Part of your credit score involves how many inquiries you have.

First, stop applying. You're just hurting your score.

Second, get copies of all three of your credit reports for free at annualcreditreport.com (the ONLY official site) and see what they say. If you had credit problems 5 years ago and haven't used credit since, your score is probably way low.

Third, go to www.creditboards.com to learn about how to clean up your credit report.

Fourth, apply for a secured card from your bank. This means that you will put money into a savings account and get a credit line for that amount. After 6-12 months it will go unsecured and you will get your deposit back. Alternatively, you could have a friend/family member with good credit add you as an authorized user to their account. This should give you a bit of their history and will help your score.

Fifth, remember that you didn't ruin your credit over night, so you can't fix it over night. Stop applying and start fixing. Give it a few months and then apply for a card that focuses on people with bad credit.

Good luck!

You do? They always bug me to open an account everytime I shop there. It is so annoying. Anyway, get a copy of your credit report from all of the 3 big credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnionand see what sort of things are on there that need clearing up. Sometimes there is really old information on there and you have to request to have it removed.

Keep applying for any department store that will give you a card. Then, charge a little on it every month and pay it off every month. Your credit will slowly get better and better.

If you have bad credit, YOU DON'T NEED ANYBODY'S credit card!

Besides, if your credit is as bad as you say, nobody'll give you credit.

If you just want a credit card for the covenience of online buying and stuff, get a prepaid card. I have a Wired Plastic card and use it for everything a regular card does.

But, if you want to re-esetablish your credit, try getting a secured card.

You send them $200.00 and you get a card and they will track your payments and help you get re-establihed.

Wait 2 more years to reapply and see what happens.
