L'oreal Kids makes a great pear scented detangler spray. You can spray it in your hair whether it's wet or dry. Then start from the bottom and work your way up. Try to pick at individual knots rather than just hacking like crazy at your hair.

when you're trying to get knots out of your hair - ALWAYS start from the bottom. Take a section of hair and brush the very bottom, then work your way up the strands. It's the way they do it in hairdresser!
