I always thought that countries who are on the Security Council cannot have one of their citizens run the UN. Is this true.

I was told Bill Clinton was interested in the job but I did not think he was eligible.

I am no huge fan of the UN myself. The question has no political agenda, I just do not have the information on the subject

NO. Permanent Members of the Security Council cannot have one of theirs as Secretary General.

That might be difficult to pull off. The world already thinks that the U.S. has an inordinate amount of power in world relations. Having a U.S. Head of the United Nations might give the impression of an attempt at world dominance.

The UN is a corrupt crooked organization.
But even they, made sure that Clinton was not eligible.
There is a limit, you know.
(Actually, the UN is much more corrupt and worthless than Clinton. Either one of them.)

yes informally they rotate it around the continents, that is why it is asia's turn.but an american would be very hard to get pass the general assembly.
