yes, it is a myth that a minor can not be questioned without a parent or guardian present.
First if this is not adult court, the rules of evidence are not the same as in adult court.

It is legal to tape them. They are in a public place and therefore do not have any expectation of privacy. On a side note - this should teach you an important lesson for later in life. Reputations REALLY matter in the way people deal with you. This is true as an adult in business and almost every other aspect of your life. Take this piece of free advice... clean up your act and earn a good reputation in later life.

With all the questions you are asking about a minor and armed robbery, it would be better to go talk to an attorney. People who are not attornies are not allowed to give legal advice. Go to someone who would know. Probably a defense attorney.
Good luck!

Some of the answers you have gotten are completely wrong. Different jurisdictions have different rules on dealing with JV's. JV's may be interviewed depending on the crime and the circumstances.
My department policy states that we should notify the parent or guardian that it is to occur. This doesn't mean they get to sit in.

If no guardian or overseer (lawyer) is present to look after the minor's rights then the testimony is inadmissable and the police should be ashamed to do this

State constitutions vary but in most cases yes. In some States it would not be allowed. But since I believe that you are speaking of the armed robber, he was stupid to do the crime and even dumber to talk about it.

It's up to the judge whether or not it may be used in court against the minor.
If it's a felony, yes it will probably be allowed.
