At the college I went to there was this girl that would go to the dining room and actually get two of everything, and she would go to a table and set it up as if there were two people, even though nobody else was there. The whole meal she would talk to that other person and hold out food or silverware. Sometimes she would say, "Are you going to eat that?" Then she'd say, "Oh, do you mind if I take it then?" and she'd proceed to eat it. She should have been overweight with all of that extra food she ate since she usually ended up eating both servings of everything, but she was a thin girl. So I'd say compared to her, you have nothing to worry about! In fact I think it's very common for people to talk to themselves.

This is a very delicate issue because on the one hand, in normal society, talking to oneself is perceived as weird or crazy. however, some people find comfort in talking to themselves because it loneliness does become an issue, your can take on the effect of another entity, which does sometimes help. In my case, I either curse at myself when I have made a mistake or use my spoken voice to rationalize thoughts. I think privately, nothing is abnormal. However, in the company of the public, someone may want to rethink what they do due to another's false preception.

I talk to myself as well and I am 16. Just like you say, sometimes I just start having conversations with myself when no one is there.

Your not weird.

I speak out loud, but never give myself an answer. It happens mostly when I'm pissed off and need to rant about some idiot on the Metro.

Talking out loud to yourself is a bit out of the normal. People always carry on an internal dialogue, but most people don't externalize that.

I used to talk to myself. I didn't get out much though. Now that I have more friends and I hang out with them more I talk to them instead of to myself. Maybe you should try talking to your friends more than to yourself.

Yes it is normal, just as long as you don't ask yourself what you just said. LOL! Don't worry, many people talk to themselves, myself included.

Nope . . I don't think it is normal, in the sence that I think it would be odd if I was in a waiting room with you and you started to talk with yourself.

But if you are aware of it and can control it then i don't think it is a problem.
