i have a backup copy of windows xp and i lost the cd. im trying to install it but in order to do that i need the real cd. is there anyway to get around that or any program i can use?

I'm not just real clear on what it is you have. Do you have a back up CD or an image file or just the files from the CD? If you have just the files and you are trying to do a clean install you will need to make a bootable cd. Check out the link for some suggestions.

Borrow the EXACT same version of XP from a friend and install it using your own valid product ID.

You need the cd, can't you just get a new one ?

why does ur "copy" not work? will it not boot? use a burning app and a 98 boot floppy to burn a bootable one ... if its a key issue then you lied to me lol ... search a serial site.
