I will exclude child pornography as being the pornography in my answer because child pornography is in a seperate class and is always a bad thing...
Pornography in and of itself is neither good nor bad...
How a person relates to pornography determines if it is good or bad for the individual... If a person views pornography but does not become addicted to it, it is perfectly fine... Occassional viewing for either sexual stimulation or entertainment can be quite healthy and a good sexual stimulus/ release aide....
However if a person becomes addicted to pornography choosing to view it rather than interacting with others, chooses to allow the viewing of pornography to impeded other portions of his/her life it is not healthy and there a bad thing...
A persons interaction with pornography determines whether or not pornography is good or bad for the individual person and as each of us is a different individual the determination of whether or not pornography is good or bad has to be made on an individual bases rather than one blanket answer one the medium of pornography as a whole being either good or bad.

To any "Answerer"... wanna take me up on a Bet ? : if a man inquired of 250 adults separately at random and a woman did the same ( simply asking what IS pornography for a full 60 second answer ) those two poll takers would Not hear Any Two answers among those 500 that articulated a clear objective Agreement .

I think it's the worst thing out for the public. Most divorces, rapes, molestations, and just bad and disrespectful behavior is started with porn. Porn leads to sexual thoughts which lead to sexual drives which make you loose control of your passions and your self control, and then your free will. Things like this you cannot take back. After a while you're addicted, then you aren't satisfied with normal people and sex, or you just want more and more, and kinkier till you're never satisfied. I know this sounds extreme, and isn't the case for all people. But I've known WAY too many families and couples torn apart because of pornography drives. I myself struggle against it and my husband even more so. It makes me feel sad when I find out he's been viewing it, I can't imagine the effects it would have on our relationship if one of us got really into it. In my opinion, it's not good for anyone! I know something so common doesn't seem like it could be that much trouble, but do the research and you'll see for yourself.

Definitely a great questione. Lets see, their are some well known doctors and sex therapists that use porn to fix relationships. But there are situations like my ex who was addicted to porn, Id work a 8-10 hour job, and he would still be sitting at the computer, staring at por n. Didnt even break to have lunch. Lots of coulples are being helped with porn, but tons are breaking up for the same reason. Like anything else, should be done, spareingly. Dont over indulge.

for younger people 12 to 14 i think it gives them a bad perception of relationships.
considering a good percentage of the girls are being exploited in the sex industry its bad .
considering the general trend is 18 years old or younger who are dressed up to look younger it bad .
considering if you type in xxx on your google or yahoo search all you get is adds for Gay Muscle its bad.
Considering it is a sexual resource , that can be accessed by adults who can decide what they want to see it's good.
There is not enough restriction on pornography through the Internet any child with half a brain can get to it

My wife and I have had lots of fun staying in and watching it, making our own (being very careful how it is stored and discarded) etc. It's an interest we share, and it has kept things interesting between us.
I can see how it could easily be over-indulged and distract from the rest of life. That's where maturity and a modicum of discipline are applied. I think overall, as a stimulant, it's healthier than alcohol or drugs.

As a mental health professional, I would say that it can be bad when it causes distress in a person's life. Pornography is linked to sexual addictions, which can be incredibly destructive in people's lives and relationships.

It has torn my marriage apart. It has turned my husband into a sex addict. It is very bad. For a single person then maybe its OK, but it tears families apart and My children have paid the price for it. Some people can handle it, unfortunately my husband could not.
I personally think that it porn "actors" are over paid prostitutes, the men and the women, but that is a personal feeling...

I think porn is fine when used in a healthy way- it becomes a problem when it effects your work life, social life, or relationship, or you become addicted to it, or compare other women to pornstars because you life in a fantasy world.
