Men cannot smell gas leaks or their own farts either, especially when they're in bed asleep after a night out drinking!

I've never been able to pick up the scent of a ktty cat, except an un-neutered male cat. It sounds like you may be adding your own ammo to the 'insensitive' arguement on this one. Cats in my experience USUALLY don't have as strong an odor as a dog does. Another angle that might help out is whether or not your husband smokes, that decreases the senses of smell and taste. Hope this helps some.

I'm a Guy with a Cat-can't say I've noticed any obvious lingering pong or whatever from the furry One...but He does have a nice outdoorsy smell when He comes back inside...I AM aware cats use scent markings to mark their territory.Allegedly,Women are more receptive to smell than Men-maybe that's it?
dunno if it's a factor,but I don't smoke..

I think men can smell cats, I just don't know if they find it as annoying as women do. I try to keep the Odor down as much as possible, but I know the boxes smell occasionally.

Actually, you might want to have him in to the vet for a check-up. Really bad breath may be the sign of a medical issue, including maybe a bad tooth, mouth sore/abcess or diabetes. You can't exactly brush his teeth yourself, but your cat should have his teeth cleaned on a regular basis by his vet. If the vet finds nothing wrong with Gravy (great name, by the way), he or she can recommend some tasty treats that have a teeth cleaning, breath-freshning effect.

Men deliberately don't 'smell' the cat smell, if they can smell it they would feel obliged to clean the litter tray or clean up after the cat. If they can't smell it they can't be held responsible for ignoring it!!

Women's greater ability to detect odours and aromas could be linked to the oestrogen hormone, according to research.
