Because they can not believe in anything based on faith alone.
They want 'proof'. So they can not understand how we continue to 'believe'. They think they are upsetting us, that we will finally come to their way of seeing things.

First of all, I don't think people should be bashing. By that I mean name calling and crude. However, if what you mean is challenging Christians in their faith, then I think many Christians ask for it.
When you profess a belief in something yet can't give a rational reason with some sort of empirical proof and yet want others to accept and believe it, you've opened the door to being challenged. And Christians are some of the first people I've seen to start calling other people ignorant because they ask for some kind of proof other than "because it's in the bible."
There is no empirical proof that the writer's contained in the Bible were anything but ordinary people trying to make sense of things the best way they knew how 2000 years ago. Why I would presume that scholars of that era are more enlightened or informed that today's is beyond me.
If you want to quietly practice your religion and it helps you to be a better person, then bless you and keep the faith. If that faith means trying to legislate everyone else's beliefs or behavior, then I will fight you every step of the way.

Because not all who claim to be Christians are.
In fact some are really anti-Christians.
Example: The "christians" Who have been picketing at the funerals of our service men and women. Are not Godly in my view. If you have a problem with GW or Iraq. Don't take it out on the warriors and their families! They are doing a serious job for this Country. If you don't like it. Then vote! And change the political leadership!

I will be very serious in my answer. I know many wonderful people who identify as Christians, and they have my respect - but these are Christians who have respect for others beliefs as well.
But there are Christians who are simply fanatical and disrespectful of anything that doesn't mirror their own minds. Also, I find these same Christians have little knowledge of their government and many of them think that they should rule this country. They do not understand that religious freedom is key to this country's success. They stubbornly insist that this is a Christian nation, they are in the majority and that is that. But, that isn't that. One of the ways we succeed in maintaining our government and our American lifestyle is by not letting any religion hold sway over another in matters of civil law. The only place majority rules is in the voting booth (ahem...well, it's supposed to be lol). Civil law and civil rights are not up for grabs, they belong to everyone.

I'm not sure...there was a time when it was okay to say Jesus' name in public, without fear of being branded "ignorant" or "paranoid." Additionally, there are Muslim people who are treated the same when they invoke the name of their god in public, as well.
As far as political views, there is much diversity in Christianity, but the most vocal and better funded is the "Religious Right" whose views are marketed as representing the views of all Christians. These people represent a section of Christianity that are rapidly becoming the new Pharisees, loving the letter of the law rather than the grace of God, by which He called them to salvation (Romans 4)
Jesus almost always spoke in terms of the individual and how the Father loves people as individuals. He only spoke about groups of people when they heaped condmnation on others when they didn't agree with their agenda...

I'm a Christian and I'm looking for and answer myself. It might be due to the inappropriate behaviour of nominal Christians. Some Christians just don't act like Christians and so repel people. However, the Bible did say that the world would hate us for being different, so be prepared! There are alot of people who hate Christians for no reason. Hang in there, and God Bless!

The only real Christians I ever heard of is the Amish. The "Other" Christians are narrow minded folks who look down upon others and feel they are superior to others who think different than they do. The worst of these are the "Two Hour on Sundays" kind who just by going to church on Sundays thinks it forgives their real life's beliefs such as racism, consuming alcohol, cheating on their mates, ect. The Amish proved by actions, not just hollow words on how to be a REAL Christian in regards to the tragedy in Pennsylvania. They really practice what they preach.

Have you asked yourself why you feel the need to call anti-religionists sick minded. That's not very christian-like is it. Well you think about that and there you will find your answer. Lead by example.
The example is to be kind, even when you don't feel like it. Be patient even if no one deserves it. Don't fight evil for evil right? Well I don't go to church and I know how you're supposed to be living. That's sad. Maybe we need to start praying for you guys.

I think the belief among Christians (which as a Christian I hold) that Christianity is the only true way to God ticks people off and they bash it. My question for those who find this offensive: What if it is? If Christianity is the only way to escape hell- isn't it love to try and convert people to Christianity and out of their false religions? It kind of irks me when a Christian's love for his fellow man- which necessitates his proselytizing- is construed as hateful and intolerant.

For some people Christianity, like other faiths, helps them. For other people, Christianity justifies for them their hatred and wish to oppress other people. It can't be denied. And there are those among us who don't see anything wrong with challenging the latter groups as vigorously as we wish. (Short of actual bashing, obviously.)

Because many xians are trying everyday to have their agenda pushed down my throat. To ban abortion, morning-after pills, HPV vaccinations, gay rights, etc... So they have lost their immunity from criticism and ridicule (if they ever had one which the crusades and inquisition would preclude).
And it p**** me off when they tell some woman in the pregnancy section who asks if abortion is an option that god gave her that baby. It ENRAGES me to read that shite. What about the women who can't get pregnant? What about those who need expensive and extensive medical intervention to get pregnant? That is highly insulting, condescending, and idiotic. So I vent my spleen at those xians, yes.
You THINK god helped your grandma. You know muslims, daoist, shintoists, hindus,a dn just about every religion in the world has a story of being healed by their god. Does that mean they all exist?
