Too many movies? A AK47 can penetrate a APC, anything bigger can penetrate anything we have to include a M60 and besides a M1 Abrams. I was sitting in a APC once when I heard a RPG whistling my way before I could dive for cover it hit the wire bursting everywhere. When I got up the hatch and sides looked like Swiss cheese. The scariest time was when we were hit and we got busy answering their fire. When it was over I picked up the book which had been between my legs and it had two holes, while my knees were shaking so hard I got down and found ricochet marks on both sides of the cupola. I guess either friendly fire or bad guys had shot hitting one side of the cupola between my legs then the other side of the cupola. My legs are still shaking. Oh, one more war story but has nothing to do with your question.I was the first one across a small but deep creek. I stood on the other side thinking I almost drown what is next? I looked into the brush line and saw a ambush set-up and ready to fire. They started firing as I ran down the river bed. When my guys realized I was not joking they started firing over my head into the bush line. Later the Colonel said"soldier that was the bravest thing I had ever seen". I told him if I did not have as much S*** in my pants I could have ran faster. Anyway God Bless you and yours and the Southern people.

The Apache helicopter's M230 30mm cannon, and the M242 30mm chain gun do this all the time. The .50 caliber M-2 machine gun does it as well. The AN/GAU-8 30mm Avenger seven-barrel gatling gun, mounted only on the A-10, is known as the "tank destroyer."

So yeah, they can. Hope that helps!

Yes, but it usually requires armour-piercing ammo. The 50 caliber machine gun equiped with this ammo will stop most armoured vehicles.

Instead of making the caliber bigger they have decided to increase the amount of rounds per minute and make them either explosive or armor piercing. 20mm, 30mm and 50 cal. weapons are all used as armor vehical killers.

I believe there is a military / police special issue carbide that is teflon coated that will penetrate some armored vehicles.

Yes. It is dependent on the caliber of the weapon, the type of ammunition and the thickness of the armour.
