I think Paul was a misogynistic jerk, forwarding his own opinions. Corinthians was a letter from him, All the anti-female sentiments are in his writings.

When you read a particular scripture, you need to focus on who was speaking and to whom he is talking to at the time. In corithians Paul was speaking to the church of corinth that at that time was largely a pagan church lead by women. The women in the church were being loud and disruptive while Paul was speaking and that is why he told them to be quite so the men could hear. The bible is clear on the fact that the man is responsible for the biblical teaching in the family. However it does not take up that responsibility then the woman can and her husband is covered by her belief. There are a great many female prophets listed in the new testamant and it is also largely thought and taught that Mary Magdalene went out all the way to France to preach the Gospel of the Lord. So it is necessary to read all or none before casting a judment on what was actually being said.

If you look at it in it's entire context, it is talking about women not being deacons or elders, or preachers. They are to be examples to other women in the church. Today women may teach sunday school, and be mentors to the younger women in the church.

"All women thou shuttest their gaping trap, unlesseth thou woman beist in the role of supporting a man's argument to shuttest thy trap"

This leaves them wide open to be annoying on Y!A...:(

I try to keep the time that the Bible was written into context. I personally do not believe that it is the inherent word of God.
