They say your lungs repair themselves overtime after you quit smoking. I'm 22 smoked for about 5 years, about a half pack-full pack a day, but recently quit due to entering police academy. Anyone know how long it takes for them to fully regenerate back to healthy tissue? I already feel like my stamina has increased a good deal, but was wondering when I will feel full potential...

Lungs do not regenerate. Only the human liver is capable of regenerating to any extent. What is happening is that your body is eliminating the grunge that cigarette smoke deposits in lung & other tissue.
Five years of half a pack a day is not that long. Usually you have to smoke a good deal longer to cause serious lung damage that would result in chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (c.o.p.d.), and emphysema. Don't take smoking again get lots of exercise a good balanced ddiet with vitamin with mineral supplements and you'll be as good as new in a little while. Incidentally, your chances of contracting cancer start to drop off as soon as you quit, and should approach normal values for non-smokers in 8 to 10 years.
Congratulations on quitting it is not an easy to do
Best wishes.

Your lungs heal the minute you stop smoking. I just quit 4 months ago and i was up to a pack a day myself. Check this link out

As long as you stop before 25 you will fully regenerate (though i would point out that the environment most of us live in is pretty filthy, so the chances are that that might do you in instead).
