I have 2 long haired German Shepards. Both had hot spots. I was told to put about a tablespoon of cooking oil on their food and it would get rid of them. It took about 2 weeks for it to start, but now they are cured.

Most kinds of fats will work. Especially good are omega-3 fish oil capsules. You can also get this in a bottle with a pump.

My mom puts about a TBSP of coconut oil in her dogs' food. Their skin was great and their coats were shinier. I beleive olive oil can be used instead. ( you should call your vet's office just to make sure that it's okay)

The easiest way, check the fat level on your bad of dog food. Mine says 23%. What does yours say? If it is a lot less, then change brands of dog food.

give her more natural fats in her diet, you can also rub her with a tny amount of almond oil in your hand....that works really nice. You should look at a dog food that has skin and coat conditioners too.
