Any idea in terms of cost range for a decent (not entry level, not professional) one would go for?

The lenses themselves, how powerful to they go? (How far away can you see with the ultra-powerful ones? their cost?

Thank you so much

Those are dSLR cameras (digital single lens reflex).
The best mid-range models are currently
$800 Canon 400D
$1000 Nikon D80
$1300 Canon 30D
$1700 Nikon D200
To that, add $100 for a good memory card and $200 for a budget lens, or $500 for a mid-range lens, or $1200 for a professional quality lens.

SLR walmart has some ok ones but no where near pro

the more money you have the longer the lens lol no but more powerful the lenses

i forgot the web site/ get free catalog address but i think its B&H or something and they sell SLR cams and flashes and batt packs and every thing you can think of

but if you did not know they were called then you probably need some training on how to use them, i never used a digital one before but the anolog ones are a little tricky if you are new

ok i did find the site

They are called "DSLR's". The ones you describe usually retail for $800-$1200 for a kit, which includes a short zoom lens.

You can get a 300mm zoom (3x zoom) for as little as $200-$300. You can go more powerful, and spend a lot more.
