I have answered this question before. I depends on what you current nationality is. If you an EU citizen you can stay as long as you want. If you're not then I doubt you'll get to stay unless you are from some somewhere very dodgy

Why do you want "Indefinite Residency" ? so that you can join the Thousands already here ,Sponging off us , and taking advantage of the fact the our Government is run by a bunch of Half-Wits who don,t give a Damn for our Country . Better stay in you own country -- things are about to change here - the "Gravy-Train" is about to be Derailed , Oh , and there will NEVER - EVER be a state of Islam. or anything remotely like it in Great Britain.

If you are already studing and have a student visa, get a letter of a promise of work once you have finished studying..then fill out a permanent residency and mail it giving the date you will be finishing your studies because u cannot get one until you have terminated your studies..
