I'm a Christian, and I try to spread the gospel, but I seriously don't annoy people! I just talk to them about it, ask them about their beliefs, introduce them to mine, invite them to church, and then let them decide. I don't continually pester them. It's a take or leave thing. If they say no, I just continue living like a Christian, minus the preaching, and continue being their friend. No harm done. Right?

They don't appear annoyed. They just listen and give their honest opinions. Of course, there are a few that spit it back in my face.

Because it is associated with closed minded, argumentative, don't take no for an answer types....as well as televangelists. Quiet talk, asking for nothing, not even a nod, large display of truthful love for them is way more effective

It's certainly not a matter of you. In fact, you're doing what the bible says that you should, but there is a history of distrust for evangelists.

Look back into the 1930's and you'll see that there were two major christian revitalism movements in which thousands of people would congregate in the woods and listen to evangelists. The downside is that as men saw how much money the evangelists were drawing from their sermons, they started pulling copycat routines and preaching to people for monetary gain. Ever since then, evangelists have had a bad name regardless of where they were or when they spoke.

Ever since then, people have had a general distrust for anyone who openly talks about God, because they think they must be trying to get something from them.

Because the same people who say one should have the "right to choose" and that everyone should practice whatever religion/traditions/customs/life style they want, also usually have an agenda against Christians.

It's just hypocrosy.

There's nothing wrong with Christians (except of course those who think they are better than anyone else, and therefore aren't true Christians anyway.) Just a lot of people have problems with what Christians believe, so all that "free speech" "right to choose" stuff goes out the window and they badmouth Christians.

Once upon a time...
I was part of a weekly discussion group, mainly Pagan, but there were others (Buddhist, Christian, Agnostic) who came regularly as well. We met at a coffee shop at a time it wasn't too crowded. The owner was always glad of the business. One night, when we were a relatively small group....THEY came. The Christian group that had heard of our meetings and decided we needed "saving". They asked politely to join the discussion, we said yes, and the assault began. We had a topic that night, but it was ignored, and the lectures/putdowns began. Within an hour we were all told we were burning in Hell and had better come with them to get "saved".
Ironically, two of the people with OUR group that night were ordained Christian ministers (who didn't tell the intruders that), and most of the rest of us were people who'd studied the Bible. We started questioning them on their beliefs, pointing out how they were going against them in various ways, and soon enough they slunk away.
The point here is, they came to OUR meeting to convert us. How would you feel if a group of us came to your church/Bible group/etc. and started demanding your conversion? It would be RUDE in the extreme, and miles past annoying.
That's why I think of evangelicals as annoying. Plus the scary ones regularly on TV asking for/demanding money.

Not really sure. However sounds like you are doing ok with it. There are some folks who don't give up. I have some that come to my house all the time. I really get aggervatied, because I have told them for 6 yrs, I am not interested. I am a catholic & that is the religion that I choose. Some people may think that it is overbarring. Not all folks think of diversity.. This is what makes us all differen in who we are, what we choose to be, what religion we choose,etc... Some folks just don't think outside the box. Sounds like you do.. So I wouldn't worry myself with folks who get bent about it. Just continue with what your doing. Everyone has a choice & these folks that you've mentioned it to need to keep that in mind. And not think that you are pestering them. You're fine. Its others who are misunderstanding your intentions.

A few "Evangelical Christians" forget God, Jesus Christ, and The Bible, and preach hate and deception. Although they are few in number, they are loud and visible. The quiet, polite Christians who witness (not bear false witness) to the Gospel disappear behind the vocal minority. On the Internet, that annoying few turn into the worst of flamers, turning to tactics that should embarrass all evangelicals.

Have you ever tried to rein in someone who takes Christian rhetoric (not evangelical witnessing) too far? These people are too "devout" to care.

Transome35- We are allowed to be wealthy as Christians! Look at the true blessing God gave to King Solomon! (read your Bible) Besides Preachers get lots of gifts! They should show what a blessing looks like... God said he would "not withhold one good thing"$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Anyway,- to the 1st initial question:
Christians whom are blessed enough to be brought to Evangelism are usually happy, well grounded people. Society scoffs at that! Poor souls...XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
These blessed souls repel evil and most people whom are evil are annoyed. Their seal is not anointed, so they are rubbed the wrong way... We do not stroke their evil ego. They sense spiritually our blessing and they hate it. They just don't get it or are not their yet. Only an immature soul dislikes the spiritual beauty of The Holy Creator, The Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ and the Bible. Spiritual Beauty comes from God's grace and when you bath in the word of God from the Holy Bible, your on your way!- In Jesus Christ!

You wrot, "I seriously don't annoy people!"

Just because you can fool yourself doesn't mean that others will agree with you.

The truth is that the only gospel that you can share (you don't "spread", religion is not manure) is caring for others without pushing your beliefs (which are for the most part nonsense) on them. Just because your beliefs may be superior to their beliefs doesn't make your beliefs all that superior.

If you are spreading your beliefs, you are doing nothing but spreading ignorance and absurdity. Humanity needs more than that to survive.

Because you are implying that a person is interested in your religion and you know what is best for them. People know churches are around and if they are interested in them would go. If a person isn't going to church it must not interest them.

Those darn Nicheren Buddhist in the SGI do the same annoying thing. Although most people don't know they are around.

Evangelists have many enemies, and most of them are of their own making . . .

It's rude and disrespectful to try to spread your gospel without permission.

Why don't you just live your religion? And if someone likes what they see, they will ask you about it?

I will say that you sound better by asking once and then letting it go then some who continually pester and criticize.
