peanut oil is good for some things and frying is the one its best at,, the lighter oils cant go as high in temp before burning,, and that tastes bad so folks use sunflower for light oil for salad all though the olive is better for your health and the one i use for all is canola unless making italian dishes or salad dressings i cooked in the army for 6 years and was a dietician in the reserve army and worked in resturants ,,

I use peanut oil for deep frying, it doesn't impart a flavour to your cooking like some other oils, also it heats to a higher temp without smoking. The food fried in peanut seems to seal quickly and absorb less oil, which I figure is healthier than lard/supafry etc.
Unless you have an allergy risk, try it out - it is more expensive here than s/flower, vegetable and canola though!

I think maybe because the cooking shows use EVOO more than any other oil, we hear it everywhere and also maybe it has something to do with the temperature of what u/r cooking. I think peanut oil may be better used in deep frying????? Seems to me Paula Dean mentioned that on one of her shows. I will be watching this question for other reasons. I use EVOO for ALL my cooking ;)

Try flax-seed oil that is good for plus it makes a good salad oil with vinegar. But if you Cook with it all the health benefits are cooked right out.
So for cooking just use olive oil
