Okay well I just started swiming on a swim team and the coach said I need to lose weight. So I'm looking for a good swimmer diet or diets that have been successful for other people. The person who includes the most info will be picked as best answer

Burn more calories than you eat.

Cut your fat intake.

Eat three cups of fat free low cal yogurt a day (make sure it has live cultures in it) and pineapples. This helps you break down your food.

Do 45-60 min. of aerobic exercise a day (preferably before you eat in the morning). This will attack the fat. Try to supplement your training with some running, running stairs or hills, and cycling. Mix it up, it will keep your body guessing.

Do 30 min of weight training three times a week. This will build lean muscle which will in turn burn fat.

Keep moving all the time. Tap you feet while at the computer, tap you hands on your legs while walking. Keep moving and keep burning calories.

I lost 40 lbs in two months and have kept it off for three more months doing this. I also took my body fat % from 30% to 14% and my waist from 36 inches to 32.

The South Beach Diet is the best diet that I have ever been on. I lost 10 lbs. within the first two weeks. The book is available at Wal-Mart. Everyday consists of breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, a mid-afternoon snack and dinner. Caffeine is discouraged on this diet because it brings on cravings. Regular pop and beer are big no-no's. Chocolate is allowed. There are three phases of this diet.

Phase One: This phase last two weeks. Carbs and sugar are very, very minimal. You'll eat a lot of veggies and protein. Alcohol, fruits and breads are not allowed during this phase.

Phase Two: This phase begins on the third week of the diet. Carbs and fruit are incorporated. Multi-grain or whole wheat breads and pastas are allowed, but you can't go crazy on them. 100-calorie snacks (i.e. Cheez-its, etc.) are ok for snacking. Up to two glasses of wine a day are allowed on this phase.

Phase Three: Phase three begins when you are down to your desired weight. At this point, you know what foods are good for you and you have much more control of what you want to eat and what you don't.

The South Beach Diet is great because you never feel deprived of food. There is no calorie counting either. It's just eating sensibly. Weight loss, increased energy, lower glucose levels and other helpful body changes are just some of the benefits. Whatever diet you choose to do, good luck!

Alright, the best diet I've ever been on was Weight Watchers. It's cheap and easy, and you can eat anything you want. Food is based on points (calories, fat, and dietary fiber) and based on your weight you get so many points a day. Never go below 20pts because your body needs at least 1200 calories to properly metabolise food. Exercise is counted as banked points and it's just awesome! I lost 40lbs then I got pregnant but I'm back on it! Weekly meetings at your local place also help, costs about $11 a week but it's nice to have all the support and people going through the same process as you.

I prefer the low carb diet. Even though some people say it's unsafe and unhealthy, I never had a problem with it whatsoever, just the first two weeks are hard. What this does is change your metabolic pathway from a glucose burning metabolism to a fat burning metabolism (you burn your own stored fat for fuel). It really does work, and it works FAST.

Eat meat, vegetables, fruit and dairy products. Leave sweets alone. Lift weights. Stick with it.

The best diet is a 'normal' diet. You should always restrict your intake to meet your caloric requirements.
