As a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer, I can tell you it is certainly possible to be a U.S. citizen and a permanent resident of another country. I talk with people all the time who are USC and live in Canada. However, most of the answerer's of this question are wrong; the U.S. does not recognize dual citizenship. If you are a US citizen, you are a US citizen and nothing else, as far as we are concerned. I know Canada and other countries do recognize dual citizenship.

Yes you can be a US citizen, and hold permanent residency in other countries. When it comes to dual citizenship, you can only be a dual citizen, not have 3 citizenships. And I may be wrong on this part, but I do believe that you can be a dual citizenship, but only for certain countries.

You can live in Brazil and still be a US citizen, people from the USA have done that for years. They live in other countries too and pay US taxes. You can also hold dual (not triple) citizenship if you want.
