for the most part we are christians... roman catholics and a few protestantic churches, by far the largest among them lutheran protestants.
we also have a few more fundamentalist christian sects, but much less than there are in america.
then there is a growing population of muslims, most of them turks.

Germans for the most part are Christian. (Especially Protestant, Lutheran, etc.)
In Bavaria, Germany however, the majority are conservative and Catholic.
The current Pope, Benedict Ratzinger XVI is from Bavaria, Germany.

Parts of Germany were Lutheran. Parts of Germany were Catholic. Some Germans were Jewish and other religions.

You seem to be confusing Nationality with Religion. What skin color are Americans? Perhaps you need to think about your question, and think about where Catholicism came from, what Natinality the man who invented Protestanism was, and how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.
