I was going to toss the basil and tomato in with cooked pasta, oil, and some feta. But I was not sure if the uncooked basil and tomato would jive with the cooked pasta.

You could- that is what some people do to make spaghetti sauce. Just make sure you add tomato paste to counteract the soggies, and mix well.
But by far, the best tomato and basil recipes I know are not cooked. If you're afraid to take the chance, you could simply chop the basil and tomatoes up and toss them with pasta, or use them like an Italian style salsa.

Hi H,
Yes, sounds like the start of a good spagetti sauce.
You could make Brushetta's(spell checker)
French bread cut at an angle-brush with olive oil
Sprinkle with garlic powder
Add fresh chopped tomatoes & basil
Top with mozzarella(speller checker) cheese
Broil until cheese melts
MMmm good finger foods
Oops I forgot ppl add additonal comments
Rather then add basil to tomatoes just snip fresh basil & add after all the ingredients are mixed together

Mushy, yes. Gross, no.

Actually, if you cut the basil in really thin strips (called chiffonade--don't know if you know culinary terms) it won't get mushy. Are you wanting to make a sauce with it or put it on something like a garnish?

Well, that would be the makings of a good spaghetti sauce. So if you're not trying to make sauce why cook them in the first place?
