From what I know, the only thing that is diffrent is the 100 crunches in 2 min...not 200.

3rd class is passing, and therefore you will not be retested; however, if you can only achieve a 3rd class PFT you may be a bit out of shape, and therefore bootcamp will be even more of a struggle. In the Marine Corps fleet, 3rd class is often looked down upon; it's not as simple as 'pass or fail', you really want to strive for 1st class. Why take it easy in the Marine Corps?

That is the maximum for males. For women it is the Flexed Arm hang (70 secs), abdominal crunches (200--when did we stop calling them situps, I wonder) and 3 mile run in 21 mins.

Having said that, it's been a few years since I've run a PFT.

Wow, I'm surprised at how much my Marine Corps has changed since I went through Boot Camp in 1967. Back then we were tough! We didn't ask stupid questions, we just fought our way through. Back then the graduation rate was a lot higher than it is now. What I'm saying is if you want to join the Marines do it for the right reasons, Don't join because you want it easy! If you are asking this question you are probably not ready for my Marine Corps! but if you think you are ready then God Bless, I wish you the best. I spent 30 years in my beloved Marine Corps and hope you will make us proud and carry on the great tradition. Good Luck.
