Yahoo, MSN and many others offer PPC (pay per click) and/or PPA (pay per action). There are many smaller search engines and search engine associations that also have PPC or fixed pricing for "sponsored ads".
I am not aware of any forum advertising other than what the forum owner may use to monitize their site. Ads in forum posts may be considered spammy.
There is BLOG advertising also. One such BLOG advertising company is Pheedo - I am sure there are others.
