I tend to rely more on spirituality than religion or the non-religious part of the bible . Your Higher Power is whatever or whomever you choose it to be. Spirituality counts more than anything else.

The inconsistentcies and innumerable contradictions are there, not because "god's word is infallible" or "He wants you to use your mind to find the truth beneath them", no, these are not ironclad truths, they are kneejerk reactions from fundamentalists who feel just as threatened by the myriad of inconsistencies, fallacies, contradictions and downright morally perilous messages it contains.MEN wrote the bible and centuries and countless distortions later, MEN composed the cannon of scripture using only those texts that were of the greatest benefit to the organized church.I truly hope that reason will out for you and reason prevails throughout society.

You have to consider the languare of the the day when the Bible was written, and the custom of the people at that time. Some of the things they say in the Bible, when translated into what we mean today, may seem to be a contradiction, but in actuality it is NOT.

And just to clarify, there are NO inconsistencies in the Bible. GOD is perfect as is his word.

The Bible is very complicated. You have to use your own judgement. If you feel something is wrong then don't do it.
