Honestly I've been around it all my life. I tried it out. Nothing got me hooked. I don't smoke but only when I get stressed out. But try going cold turkey

Hi Im 55 and thought i couldnt give up my 20 a day(plus rollies) habit.Over the years ive had accupunture, patches, tablets videos etc and all did not work.I gave up the first timecold turkey (not recomended)and actually marked off the hours that i didnt smoke, ive given up for 3 months at a time and gone back to it at times of stress. This time i gave up in April using the patches.I went on a 3 day holiday with people who didnt smoke so i wasnt tempted and then i thought it would be a shame to start again as all the hard work was done.My cough has gone but i still get a bit breathless(the last time i gave up my breathing was 100% better) i just hope i didnt leave it too late, good luck keep safe J

I gave up in 1990 - well I gave up several times before that & was successful in 1990.
There is only 1 rule - decide to give up & mean it. Make not smoking your # 1 priority in life, ahead of work, family romance - everything. But ask faimly & friends to help you.
Don't allow anything to distract you from the fact that you have become a NON-SMOKER. Yoda said "there is no TRY". Don't TRY to give up - DO IT.
NOTE: Cheating - starting smoking again but hiding it from your SO, family or friends - that just means you started smoking again, regardless whether anyone else knows.
P.S. Smoking a joint, with tobacco in it - IS SMOKING.
When you are truly a non-smoker, you WILL feel liberated, richer, fitter, even happier. Smoking does so little for you & asks so much.

I stopped nearly 2 years ago now, and still have my moments of wanting to smoke again, but resist. Have you tried reading any Allan Carr's books, or go to www.whyquit.com and go to Joel's Library for inspiration. It is a bit happy-clappy in its beliefs an teachings but the guy talks a lot of sense and was a big contributor to my successful quit. Quitting smoking is easy, it is maintaining that quit that is hard but the rewards are so worth it. I hope you find the path to quit that suits you. BTW for my quit I did a week on patches then went CT, bloody-mindedness saw me through the worst!

I stopped for five years with zyban, smoking now cos i'm a miserable bugger without them. I think will power is the only way but use whatever aids you can to help it along. Gum's not bad, hypnosis didn't work for me cos i was smoking on the way home. Best advice is not to listen to the moaning minnies about how you're killing everyone, ring your nhs smoking advice line and get yourself a big bag of willpower.

Aids are good if you're really busy because it spans the quitting over a few weeks, but quitting cold turkey is just as easy.
You definitely have to want to quit. It can't be somebody else wanting you to. I just kept thinking about how messed up my lungs were and how much worse they would get, and all the crappy stuff that comes along with smoking. But I didn't make myself think about it. I was generally scared.

You're cutting away the precious time you have with your loved ones. While smoking, you're slowly killing everybody around you with second hand smoke. If you're not gonna quite for yourself, think of a little child in your life and how they're going to be affected by smoke and pollution (yes, cigarette smoke is pollution) when they're older.
Try a hypnotis. My friend did it and it worked perfectly.

I tried Ziaban it didn't work. I used patches they did, but by then I really wanted to stop and used all my will power to succeed.
Just keep trying, just because you've failed before doesn't mean you can't do it. Jus wait until you are ready, then go for it.

nicotine is one of the most additive substances on the planet earth.
attempting to break this addiction alone rarely works. There is a Fellowship of men and women who hold the key to Freedom from this addiction they are Nicotine Anonymous I suggest you seek them out and join them if you REALLY want to quit. Because if do,YOU WILL STOP SMOKING ONCE AND FOR ALL BECAUSE THIS WAY ALWAYS WORKS IF YOU WORK IT!
