I had smoked for over 30 years (up to 2 1/2 packs per day) when I experienced a serious stroke that almost ended my life. Before they released me from the hospital, the cardiologist read me the riot act on the dangers of smoking. The night before my first appointment with her, I devised a plan that would have saved me from a further lecture on the subject. If I told her that I had given it the old college try, but had failed would have stopped the lecture. But being an honest man, I couldn't lie, so I put out my final cigarette in the ash tray. That was my final cigarette, in spite of others in my household who continued the habit. Will power will win.

HI. I gave up smoking last year after smoking 30 cigs a day for the last 30 years. The only advice I can give you is to set yourself a day to begin. I dont believe that any nicotine substitute is any help at all, as it just keeps the addiction going in a different form, gum etc. Give yourself a treat with the money you save, get your nails or hair done, buy yourself something nice, save for a dream holiday, you WILL feel better, and you wont stink anymore, because trust me , you do now( no offence) when you have stopped for a couple of weeks the smell of people who smoke will start to disgust you, and it will make you realise that you are doing the right thing stopping. Good luck to you

I agree with above - get Alan Carr's easy way to stop smoking.
I tried using nicotine replacement therapy with the Smoking Cessation clinic and it didn't work for me.
But the book did.
Good Luck....and if at first you don't succeed try try again! It's all a learning experience and one day you will stop for good.

You have to really want to give up for yourself, not because you are being forced to by another person. If you really want to give it up you will, but it takes a lot of willpower. Good Luck.
