You're asking why a bunch of people that worship fictional characters, from a harry potter style novel, do something seemingly contradictory?? mmmmm.....

I fail to see the logic in your question. Several passages in the old testament refer to the soul entering the body in the womb, other than that of John the Baptist and Jesus.
There has been a great deal of debate among theological scholars of varying degrees of competence as to when the soul enters the body of the unborn child. The question remains unresolved. Evidence points to as early as conception, debate tends to point to the eighth day after conception, and the extreme fringe points to a later date. I know of no biblical text that the soul enters the body of the child at time of delivery.
Some protestant scholars, especially from churches originating in Northern Europe, have syncreted the term "the quickening", as the moment the soul enters the body.
Caution.

Christian Bible says one is not alive till after the period of quickening.
The ultra-conservative Christian anti-abortion leaders are denying the Bible and claiming that Life begins at conception. Their claim has absolutely no biblical support.
Earthy physical form such as a human body and the non-physical form referred to as "spirit" or "breath of life."

Ecclesiastes 12:7
Job 27:3

John 6:63
Psalm 150:6
2Cr 3:6
Physicians, biologists, and other scientists agree that conception marks the beginning of the life of a human being - a being that is alive and is a member of the human species. There is overwhelming agreement on this point in countless medical, biological, and scientific writings.
Roe. V. Wade "the independent and actual existence of the child before birth, as a living being” is a matter of objective science. They deplored the “popular ignorance...that the fetus is not alive till after the period of quickening.” Doctors knew it during the 1800's and doctors know it today. Human life begins at conception.

The Bible tells of the soul in a fetus before birth:
+ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. (Jer 1:5; cf. Job 10:8-12; Ps 22:10-11)
+ My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth. (Ps 139:15)
+ Luke 1:41-42 states: When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."
The soul of John the Baptist in the womb recognized the presence of the soul of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, in the womb.
This belief is also reflected in early Church writings from the first and second centuries: You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. (Didache 2, 2: SCh 248, 148; cf. Ep. Barnabae 19, 5: PG 2, 777; Ad Diognetum 5, 6: PG 2, 1173; Tertullian, Apol. 9: PL 1, 319-320)
With love in Christ.

Do you have a scripture reference for that? I'd be interested in reading it.
Proverbs 6:17 says that the Lord hates the shedding of innocent blood. How can an unborn child not be innocent? They haven't even been born yet, so they have never sinned.
Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)
16 There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Whether what you say about when the soul enters the body is true or not does not matter. The Catholic view is that a fetus is a living being. According to your thinking it would be ok to murder an atheist ? Poorly asked question.

No, the Catholic Church loves the Bible and continually has. it quite is why the Church has tried so perplexing to guard it from being mistranslated. The Council of Trent did no longer restrict human beings from analyzing and archives the Bible. It did restrict human beings from analyzing and possessing unauthorized translations of the Bible, because of fact there have been various translations available that have been questionable. you need to undergo in ideas that Bibles have been extremely costly at that factor and it become no longer sensible for many folk to very own one. any man or woman then (and now) ought to attend Mass daily and thus hear and learn the Bible. Pope Pius VII & Pope Gregory XVI weren't complaining approximately human beings analyzing Scripture, yet human beings analyzing undesirable TRANSLATIONS. examine the fees lower back, because of fact that is superb there in black and white: "vulgar tongue". Pope Leo XII's grievance with regard to the Protestant Bible become the undesirable translation that have been meant to instruct one very narrow dogma extremely of what's certainly certainty.

You need to look at Psalm 139 before you go around asserting what the Bible does or does not teach about life.
You might also think of the time Mary went to see her cousin, Elizabeth, and what the child in the womb did.

The soul is there at conception. This is why promiscuity is so bad --they do not realize they are creating a being that will be around forever--either in Hell or Heaven--A huge responsibility. The Catholic religion is not the only one that champions pro-life. Scripture tells us that God knew us before we were born It also says that he knit us in our Mother's wombs.

I would like to know where that passage is please. And even if a fetus has no soul at conception, by the time it is a few weeks old it can hear and feel and try to suck it's thumbs. For all intents and purposes that sounds suspiciously like like a human being instead of just a mass of cells.
