This used to happen every once in a great while but now as soon as I turn it on it shuts itself off. It is only 3 years old.

Several things inside can cause your symptoms.
1] Your power supply regulator is not regulating, causing your safety circuit to activate....Turning your TV on 5 - 15 times in a row will usually get the regulator regulating again, but it still needs replaced.

2] Your Hi Voltage circuit could be triggering it too, but when that triggers it, the TV NEEDs to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to even start up a 2nd time....that doesn't sound like the symptoms you described..

Either way, you'll save more money by having a qualified service technician that's a warranty repair shop for your brand name.
We get the support, parts and knowledge of what fails on our warranty brands, where a non-warranty service company might not have that knowledge......

IOW you don't take your Chevy to a Ford dealership for service and vice versa....

change the on/off button or at least take it loose and look for something not right about it. That is if you feel comfortable doing it. Be careful on at least older TVs there are capacitors that store electricity.
