The wealthy schools in Mexico teach English and Spanish, and the poor schools in Mexico don't teach English, and the Spanish they teach is poor actually because the government strapped for money to teach even Spanish. Also, some people in Mexico don't even speak Spanish they speak indigenous languages before the Spanish came over. America, and Mexico should sign Agreement to teach school Children both English and Spanish since would be easier communicate among each other, and foster more cultural understanding.

I read that a long time ago(40s and 50s) the immigrants here in the USA would go to night school to learn English? I wonder if they still have schools like that and it was free if I remember what I read about it.I am just wondering if they have that for people now.?Its good to know that some schools in Mexico teach English but sad that it costs a lot of money.

Some schools teach English. In areas where there are concentrations of English speakers the kids speak English and teach the gringos to speak Spanish. Private English language classes are available and many kids use the computer and access the Internet. Mexico is catching up.

My late husband was raised in Mexico City. He had dual citizenship. The school he went to was the American School in Mexico City and it was for the "rich Mexicans" and Americans (embassy, CEO's etc). Classes were taught in both English and Spanish. One entire class in English, the next in Spanish. On the other hand the peasants, barely make it to 6th grade. A lot can't read their own language let alone another language. If you move to Mexico, they do not offer help to teach you Spanish, you have to arrange for your own tutor unless, you are rich enough to be able to attend one of the more privileged schools.

Most Mexican schools are not exactly outstanding institutions that have the ability or resources to do such things. They are not exactly adequate at even the more simple tasks of rudimentary education. Those few that meet some standards of adequacy (more outstanding amongst them) already teach their students English (or sometimes French). EDIT: I wouldn't say they are the same....but they have alot in common in that regard yes. I wouldn't count on a adequate education from public schools in either nation. Private schools are the FAR better alternative.

It it an obligatory matter in Mexican education system. They teach english in every basic school (private or not) in Mexico.
In some states they teach French and/or German as a secondary language option on Secondary education (Jr. High).

It is very hard for any Mexicans to get into schools in Mexico. Very few attend, so the point of teaching English in their schools is mute.
