if you guys are friends then say something like this " Hey ____. I was thinking of going to ____ and tough that you would like to come with me. Ill be leaving at ___ in case you want to come. Let me know ok." This way you show interest yet your not really asking him out just inviting him. No rejection guilt here. Then if he does go, flirt with im a little but just enough to let him know that your interested in him. He will get the clue and if hes interested in you he'll go with the flow. If a couple days past and he doesnt make a move to ask you out. tease him by getting him jealous..
