The fence is only one part of fighting illegal immigration. "Fences in San Diego California have effectively reduced illegal alien apprehensions from 202,000 in 1992 to less than 9,000 in 2004."

The fence impedes their entry. With surveillance, they will be caught. Take away their incentive to come here they will have no reason to enter. Deport those here, it will be futile to continue to try to enter the USA illegally.

A 51 foot ladder would sure slow them down. So would tunnels.

In urban areas they swarm across the border knowing the border patrol will lose sight of them in the buildings and as they jump into waiting cars, and will only catch two or three out of a swarm. That is a fact.

Walls/fences will help a lot in urban areas.

No law or wall or regulation or punishment is 100% effective. That doesn't mean that it doesn't make any sense to have those laws. A wall may deter more illegals from entering the country than would enter if there were no wall. If it slows the flow considerably, then it was worth doing.

The wall isn't going to do much - it may slow down people from entering that way, but no matter what you do, illegal immigration will happen. The only thing that will happen is that the people trying to get here, they will find a diferent way to get here - and it will cost them more to get here than it does now (averae cost now is $6000/person),a nd many more people will lose their lives in trying to get here to make the lives of their family a better place. I don't think that a wall is going to make much of a difference at all. I do think that we need to do something to help slow down the illegal immigration, but in doing so, I also think that being able to get a visa needs to be a little bit easier, so that we do not have so many people coming here illegaly.

What should accompany a wall? How about a guard tower with a machine gun? And plenty of ammo? And orders to shoot to kill? And a willing Marine to do it? Semper Fi, carry on!!

lol, since when could a country be sued? mexico will do anything for money, only reason they have so many problems is because, like most latin american countries, the corruption of the governments is out of control.

I am not sure. Do you know that Mexico allegedly tried to sue our country to make sure we do not put up that wall?
