You first have to know why you feel intimidated by others, do you think that you are less that others in one or more areas? Do not ever put yourself down. Get up everyday and say to yourself "I am worth knowing" "I am as charming, entertaining, intellingent, pretty, as anyone else." Build your confidence, look people in the eye and be yourself.

I was abused and almost killed when I was a child for being confident and being myself.
as a matter of survival I learned to cover it up so "mother" could not see it...
as a result, I can spot (from a mile away) others that know how to be confident while the abuser is to arrogant to notice...
so,,,,
I move to the spotlight to be me...
the last place the abuser (mother) wanted - there, she'd been seen abusing me...
once done, I believe it is better to stay in the spotlight. cause the abuser is waiting around the corner for you to be alone,, and guess what will happen then!!!

Just think of yourself as being better than they are. It always works for me. According to psychology, when a person faces a stressful situation (i.e. - "trying" to be like yourself when you're with charismatic people), s/he will go through the "Fight or Flight" syndrome. At this point it is up to that person to decide to fight - think of yourself as being their equals or better - or flight - becoming anxious and wanting to avoid the situation. Obviously, in your case, you have be tough and fight. Hoorah!

first find out what intimidates you about them. Is it the way they look? Talk? Learn a specific topic well and then you can be well versed about it. When you feel comfortable about a specific situation you wont be so intimidated.

Start reading some books on assertiveness and self-esteem. You might want to track down Dale Carnegie's book: How to win friends and influence people"..
