Cute Baby:
Your journey isn't going to be cheap!
Flying (Using Newark - St Louis) is $650 round trip (American Airlines) and takes 4-8 hours travel time.
Amtrak is down for maintenance, but you would go Newark, Philly, Chicago, St Louis. Not the best routing
Greyhound (Newark-Ft Leonard Wood) is $300 round trip, and is 24-33 hours travel time.
What ever means you use you will also need a rental car (and from the name "Cute Baby" i assume you can would fit in a sub-compact), and motel accommodations in Lebanon, Missouri, the nearest town off post. Good Luck.

Planes, Trains or Automobiles.
You have decided that you dont want to fly. Ok that leaves you with Trains or Automobiles. Now if you are going to be reporting for Basic Training. You will have to go via whatever transport the Army gives you. Is this a question that you are asking because you are afraid to fly ??
Now is the time for you to overcome that fear. You will be on an aircraft at some point in your military career. The Army isn't going to allow you to get on a boat and ride to Europe if you get assigned over there. They are going to put you on an Aircraft.
Fear of flying is natural but aircraft take off and land all the time. It is a safe mode of transport.
Good Luck

Bring what is on your list. Upon arrival you will receive a card with $250 (taken from your first check) to get any additional things that you need or can use during a trip to the BX/PX during the reception week.
