I am not asking the names of the people wrote it. Who put the Bible together? The Catholic Church.
There were many letters and other documents floating around until about the Catholic Church decided which books were inspired by God. The councils were Hippo in 393 and Carthage in 397. Early Christians could not agree on what was inspired and what was not. Whoever put the Bible together certainly has the authority to interpret it. Since the Catholic Church decided which books were inspired, and which were not, you really are trusting the Church's authority whenever you read the Bible. If you do not trust the Church's authority, then decide for yourself which books are really inspired. God did not just give us a book and let us decied what it means. In the Bible, Phillip (a deacon) asks a eunuch if he understands what he is reading (he's reading the scriptures). He says, how can I unless someone instructs me?
If you do not trust the Church's authority, how can you trust the Bible?

If you think I do not believe in the Bible, you're wrong. I trust it completely, but I do not trust the Bible ALONE.

All the books in the bible are all the original books. I mean, there were none taken out. The dead sea scrolls more or less proves that. We find them, and every single thing in those are what is in the bible today.
I do not trust the church, they have not changed or taken away from the bible. When a pope molests little boys, then nothing happens, thats kinda messed up. When a Pastor cant keep his home in check but then turns around and condemns another for the exact same thing, thats kinda messed up. When a religous authority says your family comes second him, thats kinda messed up. When a Pastor calls someone the devil because that person asked a question he couldnt answer, then puts that whole family on church discipline and anyone who talks to that person, thats kinda messed up.
In the bible there is nothing that counterdicts something else. All the places have been proven to exist. All the tribes of people that vanished without a trace many years ago have been recovered.
The entire bible was written by God, through man. God did not physically write it, but he told people what to write.
So forgive me if I dont trust the church even though I trust the bible. The Church is as corrupt as the government. The bible is not corrupt.

The Bible was compiled by the Church to increase it's power, financial position, and control. It's creation was less about spirituality than about politics and controlling the masses for a few men's personal gain. (The same story pretty much goes for all other "religious" books like the old testament and the koran, btw.) This is not to say some of the writings are not based on word of mouth passed on from Christ's time that does represent some of what actually did take place historically, it's not to say there isn't some positive social engineering in it, and it's not about saying there's no spiritual value to be found in it. This is very much about recognizing that the "Book" itself is an instrument of people, not god.

I believe that the words of God are written in the Bible. All throughout time (as can be read in the Bible) God uses and sends different types of people for His purpose. Like Cyrus (who is not from Israel) or the woman who help and took-in Elisha in her home in the time of famine, because God declared a drought for seven years. I believe that it just so happened that the people of the catholic church which God used as instrument to cannonized the right books to be used.

The early Christian (which means Catholic) church was designed to have absolute authority over the souls of mankind and be the most powerful political force in the world in its time. And it was, for centuries. It ruled kings and countries. And it was undeniably corrupt. These are the ones who created Christianity as we know it, and it's obvious to any rational mind that their Christianity would bear very little resemblance to the original.
(P.S. Do some Christians actually think the Dead Sea Scrolls contained New Testament books? -- They did not.)

you forget that the bible says that 'you should not add to or take away from any part of the bible'. so the church didn't just decide what to put in the bible and what to not put....god decided, so no matter what the catholic church tells you, the entire bible is all of the documents that god told men to write.
and to respond to the person above, if the bible is making you sad and lonely, try reading a study bible - that might help. it has helped me b/c it explains history and why things are written in the way they are, and explains and interprets old writings so that we can understand them better!

When the ancient Hebrews were slaves in Babylon, their priests decided to write an account of their history in order to raise their morale and give them something to be proud of. Later, other writings were added to it by various sects, including several accounts of the life of Christ and his followers.
And some Christian sects also decided what to exclude.

The things you mention predate most of the APOSTASY which became the catholic church. Don't believe the lies propagated by the vatican. Read the Bible for itself, not what it was twisted into.
