a cold is caused by germs not cold weather

When it is cold everybody pretty much stays inside. If everybody is inside you are more likely to spread germs because everybody is inside close together a lot more often than in warm weather. That's why it seem that cold weather causes colds. Sure they are related, but not in the way people think.

This question has bothered me as well, but its not all a bunch of gibberish, to some extent if it is cold enough and your body temperature begins to drop it can weaken your immune system. It doesn't mean you'll necessarily get sick as I doubt every time your cold you get sick however it does increase the likelihood of catching something.

Dude you have to tell my mom all about this. Im 16 years old and im still wearing a winter jacket when its 50 degrees outside. People are stupid.

Our immune systems become more susceptible to attack when we are cold. Dressing for the weather will help prevent getting sick.

If you talk to them, they still believe it. Maybe it could lower your resistance to bacteria and you could catch a cold IF you are exposed to cold-causing bacteria.
