Sleep comes in two different phases-Rapid eye movement and slow wave sleep. REM dreams are very intense and can be remembered in great detail-dreams that occur during slow wave sleep are less lucid and quickly forgotten. Also most REM sleep occurs just before you wake up in the morning so the dream will be fresh in your mind.

I've had dreams that I've forgotton upon waking, and there are still a few I remember that happened years ago. I think it comes down to intensity. Some dreams are just so awful or wonderful, they stick with us. My father swore he never dreamed, but my mother swore she could actually decide before sleeping what she wanted to dream about. Every mind is different, I guess. Hope your remembered dream isn't a nasty one. A bad one can throw your whole day off.

Apparently had four dreams\nightmares last night and was crying my eyes out. Didn't remember a thing about them this morning, but my husband was worried about me because I'd apparently had a very bad night!! Must remember to apologise for ruining his nights sleep!!
