Spiritual is a lot more than just religions. You can find spirituality in art, or in feelings, or in philosophy, or in a nice conversation with friends about life. That's what a spiritual atheist lives on.
And the difference between an atheist and an agnostic is not spirituality. The difference is that an atheist claims there is no god, and an agnostic claims it's impossible, irrelevant or unnecessary to state if there is a god or not. And both agnostics AND atheists can be spiritual or not.

The term atheist simply describes a person who has no belief that there are any gods. It is possible to have spiritual beliefs such as fate, karma, reincarnation and still not believe there is a god.
I personally don't believe in any of the above, but at one time i did. a lot of people mistake the word atheism for the word nihilism. Nihilism means you don't believe in anything and that can extend to law, government, ideas such as peace and love. I think that's the word you're looking for.

"Atheism" is the genuine 'belief' that a theistic position is unsupportable. There are very few Fundementalist Atheists, so one can conclude that the majority of those who identify themselves as 'atheist' are more accurately agnostic, or "aware of the reality that belief in a deity requires faith over common sense and logic". Real atheism requires rejection of the possibility even of the existence of some "other" explanation, and is rare indeed, because most agnostics are such because they are smart enough to understnd that a model of the universe based on faith (any faith) is a house of cards. A Christian faced with the OT God, or a Jew faced by Christ/God will burn in Hell, an agnostic can apologize and perhaps get a job as a doorman.

First of all Atheists have low Temporal Lobe activity and that is why they do not fel god. You can look it up, there are lots of books on that. So they do not feel, like John sad that some are blessed, to find the way to heaven and some not so.
Anyhow Atheist are also people who would like to atract attention as social people that they are, and so what they do is come with those shocking ideas that they do not believ in anything but what could mnake them somwhow leaders in such a belief say reviving Wica or comming with some new spiritual things. It could also be that somehow they still feel something because after all there is something out there, but they can not perceptualise it vcorectly, and so they go about such and such. In general they are just people of the books.

The word atheist ONLY applies toward belief in god. Some atheists believe in other things, there's no set of atheist beliefs except that there is no god. The end.

Some confused Atheists claim to be open to all kinds of weird things. The excuse they give is that spirituality and religion are totally different. They describe spirituality as something that is an experience such as awe at the cosmos.

I can speak only for myself.I do not believe in any God, diety, higher power, supreme being...whatever you wish to call it, I don't believe it.
I also don't consider myself to be spiritual, although some atheists do. At the moment I am blank on the name for them.
I don't believe in any form of an afterlife. Nor do I believe human beings possess souls.

Hey, dor_a - - Low temporal lobe activity....wow, that's a new one on me. This part of the cortex is involved in hearing. Adjacent areas in the superior, posterior and lateral parts of the temporal lobes are involved in high-level auditory processing. In humans this includes speech, for which the left temporal lobe in particular seems to be specialized. Wernicke's area which spans the region between temporal and parietal lobes plays a key role. The functions of the left temporal lobe are not limited to low-level perception but extend to comprehension, naming, verbal memory and other language functions.
The underside part of the temporal cortices appear to be involved in high-level visual processing of complex stimuli such as faces and scenes. Anterior parts of this ventral stream for visual processing are involved in object perception and recognition.
The medial temporal lobes are thought to be involved in episodic/declarative memory. Deep inside the medial temporal lobes, the hippocampi seem to be particularly important for memory function - particularly transference from short to long term memory and controlling spatial memory and behavior.
So you're saying that atheists can't see, hear, recognize, or memorize things well? Think you need a science book, my friend.

Spirituality can sometimes be the equivelant to philosophical. But really, why would you care? As long as they don't push their "spiritual atheism" on you, it's really none of your business.
