The older Ford Capri's were excellent cars built in England and Germany 1969 to 1974 It was sold in the United States simply named Capri by Lincoln/ Mercury dealerships It was mistakenly referred to as a Mercury Capri but no where on the automobile would you find the Mercury name as it was an "English Ford Capri ". The Capri was revived for a brief period of time and was called a Mercury Capri in the United States and a Ford Capri outside North America. It was built by Ford of Australia 1989 t0 1994 and was a clone of the Mazda Miata. It was rushed to market Ford had to open a shop at the port of LA to rebuild them as soon as they arrived from Australia in such poor condition with much shoddy workmanship. Ford finally discontinued the Mercury Capri.
If you are referring to the Miata clone, I would have to say it is a piece of junk.
If you are referring to the Ford Capri that was Raced in South Africa and blew the competition away so badly when wining the 1970 South African championship, before being promptly banned, I would have to say it is a blast from the past.

the actually Ford Capri? not mercury capri? If its the Ford capri Old school its alright car but if its the fox body mercury capri (79 to 86) its no different from the mustang not one difference besides slightley diffenent looks. If its the austrailian one its just ok no good crap. I own a capri and a mustang every damn part is the same beside the name taggs. The hatch fit and the doors are interchangable. The one thing that is different is the hoods and wont interchange unless you dont care if it looks slightly okward. Same car

the Capri was a quality car, though a bit dicey in the wet on the bends.
The mk1 was way ahead of its time & the later 2.8 injetion was a classic & a babe magnet
