if you believe in Islam the you would be more knowledgeable about Islam than most others,so for them to argue with you is silly unless they are just confused and are trying to understand what you are telling them. people can study another religion, practice or culture and be more knowledgeable than a person who should know what they are about or what they say they are about. it is silly i guess but for some be rude works and ignorance is bliss for them.

I've pointed out to Christians who say that Muslims use the moon as a pointer to worship that Easter is calculated on the lunar cycle. They didn't know. I am an atheist who happens to be interested enough in relgions to want to find out about it. It isn't about affiliation - it's about whether or not you are genuinely curious about what drives others to believe. People of all spiritual points of view can fall into this category, ignorance is not the exclusive preserve of one or other group.

It would be a more interesting question if people asked with an open mind why atheists believe what they do.

It's called a straw man argument. The idea is to put forward a statement they can "attribute" to their opponent that is easy to refute, nonsensical, or inflames public sentiment against the opponent.

It will be helpful for you to know this logical fallacy, because when someone imposes false thoughts on your faith or ideas, you can refute their choice. It makes them look like they have no argument based on fact, so instead they make something up about you so they can knock it down.

The same thing is directed toward evolution when people say evolutionists believe humans evolved by chance. This is a straw man argument, and one that is so pervasive, many people believe it's true. Evolutionary theory does not say that people evolved by chance, but by the INTERACTION of chance mutations (which are readily observable) with environmental pressures (such as predation, climatic change, food supply alterations, overpopulation, etc.).

Could be a 2 edged sword.
We have seen many believers in Islam carry out horrific acts, when the rest of the world condemns them.

It is obvious, if you think about it (and you DO have to think about it) that doing religion is a waste of time. Every theory of religion is in principle irrefutable (if there were a possible refutation, it wouldn't be religion), so no such theory has any predictive power whatever (this is proveable). Thus, although some such theory could be true, it would be useless.

the truth is, no one knows jacksh*it, in other words, everyone is ignorant and we use just 10% of our brains. 60% of the people in the world are NOT Christians/Muslims/Jews and the rest of us think that the minority is ruining it for the rest of us, with their stupid wars, fatwahs and jihads. We also think that you are retarding the progress of human development with your conservative and backward thinking. Hopefully at the end of YOUR world the other 60% of us won't be caught in the crossfire. Once your beliefs are gone, the world will live in peace. All Christians and Muslims are merely renegade Jews. You all believe in the same God. Who is not my God. OK?

Actually, non-Christians often know more about the Bible than Christians, so that's not always true. From what I've seen on this forum, non-Christians also tend to know more about the history of Christianity also. But I guess it goes both ways.

It is when anyone breaks the First Commandment: Thou shalt have no other gods before Me... ..", he or she becomes liable to the wrath of ALLAH ALMIGHTY. Throughout history people attempted to pervert that commandment, pagans, Christians and Jews. The connotations here, are they all speak and believes in gods, not one but, as many as they can feed it into others minds to deviate them from what is accepted by ALLAH as normal and righteous.

To answer your question, to KNOW is a gift and mercy from Allah Almighty to those who strive in His path.

Qur'an:

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

29.69 . As for those who strive in Us , We surely guide them to Our paths , and lo! Allah is with the good .

4.175 . As for those who believe in Allah , and hold fast unto Him , them He will cause to enter into His mercy and grace , and will guide them unto Him by a straight path .

2.218 . Lo! those who believe , and those who emigrate ( to escape the persecution ) and strive in the way of Allah , these have hope of Allah ' s mercy . Allah is Forgiving , Merciful .

Knowledge is not something that pertains a particular group. I could know more about history than a historian without being a historian.
