Hello, I am a 16 year old male. I am 5'5" and I am only 100 pounds. I eat all day long, and I still don't gain any weight. I always feel depressed becasue I am so skinny, and I see my friends are 150lbs and have muscle. I also want to gain muscle. Can someone please help me with a plan to gain muscle and weight?

You can add healthy forms of fat to your diet by eating more whole grains(the carbohydrates will help as well) and nuts as well as peanut butter.Things like rice and oatmeal proved very effective for me as well fo gaining weight. If you're not doing so already eat more meals throughout the day 6-8.Things like eggs in moderation are also healthy being that you'll need the protein as well. It's important to not overcook protein or use very high heat because you'll denature the protein and render it useless.A whey supplement will help as well if you're not lactose intolerant.Designer Whey from Next Proteins is 99% lactose free and hydrolyzed for better assimilation.Barring any of that working you should have your thyroid levels checked by a doctor.Hyperthyroidism is dangerous but can be cured.
Weight lifting can help as well but you haven't expressed an iterest in that.

I've seen it a million times. You will have another growth spurt within the next couple years, then in your mid 20's, you'll gain even more weight. I'd enjoy the weight/size you are right now, cause you'll be wishing you could lose that weight later in life.

Work out, this will help build muscle mass which weighs more than fat. Eat foods high in carbs, drink lots of sodas, candy, chips, fast food, all these things will put some pounds on you, but not the healthy way.

The same thing happened to me about two years ago, only that I wasn't so underweight.
Basically stop eating any junk food, pop,candy..... Then get yourself into a gym AND get a physical trainer or buy a book on how to do excercises-a lot of people go to the gym but have absolutely no idea of what they are doing and the work goes nowhere.
Also when you go to the gym, try going with someone that has gone for some time and really know what they're doing--take it easy and don't hurt yourself. I reccomend doing 3 sets of 10-8 repetitions on each excercise with the maximum ammount of weight--but NOT during the first week when you're still getting used to it. Work 2 diffrent areas each day, I do: Chest/Triceps; Biceps/Back; Legs. You can also do treadmill or bycicle everyday.

Have a healthy diet, try eating meat and protein-rich foods like fish, some meat, vegtables, etc... Drink a lot of water-the rule is half of your bodyweight in Ounces; if you're 100, drink 50oz. I wouldn't reccomend doing any protein drinks or any of that crap, I never needed it.
The key is to have the initiative to go and work out, it will be difficult at first and you won't want to go, but trust me that if you go on a regualr basis (Mon-Fri) it will definetly pay off and you'll be happy with yourself.

Yes, after doing the math, you are quite thin. Unfortunately I have the exact opposite problem but somewhere in this society people think it's okay to openly tell someone how thin they are, but I've been told that it hurts just as much as if someone said, hey you looking a bit fat, go on a diet.

There are many weight gain supplements out there that you could buy to eat in between your healthy meals. You could be eating high sugar things to try to gain weight but then just reving up your metabolism and losing anyway.

I would go to fitday or some website like that and find out what foods are high in calories yet still lower in fat and sugar because you don't want to harm your body by trying to put on weight. Protein helps build muscle but too much protein can harm your kidneys and give you constipation and leg cramps. You want to be healthy overall. Just like taking weight off takes work, so does putting it on for someone who can't keep it on. Good luck. Sometimes you just have to be thankful for who you are and move on too.

I feel REALLY sorry for you. Maybe you could try eating meat everyday. Also go to a gym after school or something and make a schedule so you won't forget. Hope you gain more weight.

Increase the protein and the good fats in your diet. Shakes are great and tuna fish is a good option. Lifting weights is a good idea but LIFT HEAVY. Increase the weight and decrease your repititions.

Do not ever compair yourself to anyone else! You are an individual. As far as a program to gain weight,I would'nt add any type of mass building formulas at your age.Your body knows how to distribute calories.Eat healthy and exercise
