I don't know much about sushi and I don't know if I'll really like it. Any suggestions of something "safe" that I can't go wrong with?

Most sushi places in the U.S. have been highly Americanized; for example, anything with "California" or "Reverse Roll" in the title is a giveaway. These items have been adjusted for American tastes.

In addition, unlike Japan, American sushi restaurants also serve grilled specialties ("teppan yaki"), which you are sure to be safe with!

Hope you enjoy your dinner!

The only sushi I like is Philadelphia Rolls. It is salmon with cream cheese.

For a first timer I suggest the Spider roll which is fried softshell crab...YUMMO!! And for the raw fish part, go for the tekka maki. Its raw tuna in rice wrapped in seaweed. And please dont forget to mix your wasabi with your soy sauce. Its better that way. I see alot of people eat it without and they make weird faces.
