I had a serious car crash four years ago and nearly died a few days after in hospital from a stroke. I have always believed in God, but seriously thought death would be a more religious experience. For me I just wanted to go to sleep, but it was so peaceful. Fortunately for my hubby and children, I pulled through and rather than turning me from religion, it pulled more toward it albiet in more "modern" fashion. I no longer attend church, but I care more for those around me. It's a weird feeling but as I am no longer afraid of death (it's not scary, having been so close). It's very difficult to explain, but I get the feeling that it is all going to be okay, don't know how or why. It's just one of those things.I hope it is like this for everyone, it's a nice feeling.
Always

Yes - though not in the dying bit. Just as a sort of logical change.
I've always been against fox-hunting and bull-fighting because I consider them archaic, uncivilised activities which should be done away with if we are tryin to make our society eveolve in to something more civilised.
For many years, at the same time, I was in favour of the death penalty for certain types of murder, but had to relinquish the idea as it isn't in line with an evolving society.

Decisions that are made under extreme duress, like a near-death experience, usually change back to default position once the threat goes away.
My mom freaked out and stopped believing in god when my father was very ill. Once he recovered, so did her faith. I'm sure it can work the other way around as well.

12 years ago My dad died and I stopped going to church. I felt to alone because he was my church partner after my kids grew up and I got divorced. I didn't feel comfortable and felt that I should be somewhere else. I was asking around about other beliefs but kept thinking about how I was raised.
Well 2 Years ago I had a heart attack and it bothered me that something was missing. I missed my religion and it took me til last Jan. to go back. I did and I have had a tuff year with other tragedy's. With this years problems I got threw it because of my prayers. My being back also helps me deal with my heart disease and I don't get worried or afraid of death. Hope this is what you meant with your question. I also use my religion for my meditation. This also helps me with stress relief.

Yes I did. I was waiting for a serious op and as I wrote letters to my kids and parents in the hospital cos we didn't know if I would come round or not I was touched by something one of the docs said. To be honest I have never looked back and have found my new appreciation of spiritual things inspiring.

I die every night but I still wake up with the values and principles I have always tried - not always succeeded - but right and wrong will always be just that and we all should be able to see through the 'shades of grey'

well, i almost did yesterday.
i had diarrhea really bad, and when i looked down in the bowl when i was finished, i thought i saw the face of jesus in all the poop. there were even little bits of corn where his eyes would be!
in shock, i accidentally flushed him right down into the sewer, right as he was beginning to talk to me.
later, i thought it might have been an image of my cousin Carl (who looks like jesus with a beard) and he was probably trying to sell me a new car. i wish he'd stop getting int my mind like that, especially when i'm in the bathroom!

Yes. I was raised an atheist in an atheist communist country and then I resumed the Orthodox Christian faith I was baptised in.

My only brush with death reinforced my spiritual beliefs but didn't encourage any belief in organised religion. I don't know why but my beliefs definitely seemed to have greater meaning and purpose to me.
