I like this guy friend, but I don't think he likes me. But, I feel I should still have hope that later on he'll like me back, when we know each other better. So when is the time that I should give up on him? Is there a sign as to when one should give up impressing the person they like?

You know I'll tell you a situation that happened to me. I had named Dino and he was in a local rock band in Orange Co. We spent a lot of time together going to bars, concerts, hanging out in his apt and discussing/playing music. I fell for him really hard and I was getting the same feeling from him. We would be up so late that I would fal asleep at his house a lot together in his bed. He would text me that he misses me and he even said that he loved me a couple of times. The problem was that he was bisexual and hye was also sleeping with this girl. (btw, if you didn't know by now, I'n gay, yippy).. anyways, back to the situation. I always felt that I was competing with someone for his affection and it did a number on my self-esteem and my hopes of ever being in love with him completely. So I laid it on the line and told him how I really felt of the whole thing and to make a long story short, he chose her because he was afraid what his friends might think if he was with a guy. I don't if this helps at all but after all this............I NEED A DRINK!!!

Dont try to impress him, just be yourself. Let him know that your wanting to get to know him better. If he wants to, then pursue the friendship; he might turn out to be a wonderful person or a total jerk! at that time you can make the decision to continue the relationship or not. Trying to impress him is not showing him the real you!

If never hurts to hope but dont hold on to that hope waiting for him, yeah you may want him to be with you but it doesn't always work out that way. TRUST ME! If you are ment to be it will happen.
