We're having an informal birthday party for my father. Mom suggested that we keep it simple and just grill some burgers. I agreed, but I want to have at least one or two side dishes besides french fries. Do any of you have suggestions? I'd prefer something easy, but tasty. It can be a hot or cold dish.

Try homemade potato salad and macaroni salad, backed beans, chips and a snack dish with olives, pickles, carrots, celery, and salad peppers with either or both guacamole dip and ranch dressing to dip the appetizers and chips in. Try maybe some fruit or make a fruit salad as well, all you need for that is a big can of mixed fruit and whipped cream chill it for a couple oh hours and it tastes great! Good Luck! And Happy B-Day To your Dad!!!! :) :) :) :)

A recipe I saw (and may still have) was avacado fries. It was posted under Build a Better Burger in Sonoma county cook-off recipes. Basically, it was slices of avacado with a coating and deep fried. Some other sides: Coleslaw, onion rings, macaroni or potato salad, pickles, or an onion blossom.

You can make cheesy hash browns in the crockpot:
Mix all together--1 2# bag frozen hash browns, 3 cups shredded cheddar, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 16 oz sour cream, a little milk to thin it.
Cook on high for about 4 hours.
These are great, so take the recipe along!!!

Hi Tim!

You can't go wrong with grilled peppers and corn!!!

Grill red, green, yellow, orange peppers on the grill. remove the skins and also grill 2 ears of corn on the cob (in the husks) when it is cooked remove the husks and sut in tiny pieces and put in the cut up grilled peppers, add olive oil and spices. very tastey!!!

what time should i be there? Hamburgers sound mighty fine!!!!! Tell your dad happy birthday!!!
