Most health officials agree that tanning in any form is not good for your skin. But for those who must tan, there are a couple of options to choose from.
Sunning
Steps
1. Start with 10 or 15 minutes of exposure to the sun or a tanning lamp, and gradually increase the time as your body becomes more tanned.
2. Start with a sunscreen with an SPF factor of under 15, but no less than 8.
3. Keep skin moisturized with after-sun lotion - preferably with aloe - to make your tan last.
Tips & Warnings
* Some medications (especially acne medications) lower your resistance to sun.
* If you are light-skinned, you are more prone to sunburn than people with darker complexions.
* Avoid the sun during the peak hours of 10:00 to 2:00, when its rays are the most harmful.
* Always protect your eyes while tanning in the sun or in a tanning bed.
* Tanning booths and beds subject your body to the same general kinds of rays as the sun emits. Be aware that you can get sunburned in a tanning bed.
Tanning Lotion
Steps
1. Buy cream or spray-on tanning lotion.
2. Test the product on a small area of skin for adverse reactions.
3. Scrub away dead skin with a loofah pad before applying lotion.
4. Rub tanning lotion into skin thoroughly. (You may want to wear rubber gloves to do this.) Pay special attention to the backs of your knees, elbows, ankles and tan lines.
5. Wipe away excess lotion to avoid an uneven or creased tan.
6. Wash hands (or gloves) thoroughly with soap and water after applying lotion.
7. Wait 15 minutes before getting skin wet.
Tips & Warnings
* Start with only a light coating and then layer to obtain the color you want.
* Most tanning lotions do not contain sunscreen.
* You can also use tanning pills, which contain color additives.
* Cheap tanning lotions will turn your skin orange.
Overall Things You'll Need
* Self-tanners
* Bikinis
* Sunscreen
* Aloe Vera Gel
* Loofahs
* Beach Towels
* Swimming Trunks

Your arms and face have a beautiful tan because they have been so continuously battered by the sun, and your skin is damaged. If you would like to damage the rest of your skin, you have to do it slowly and often. How long does it take you to burn? Fair skin usually starts to burn in about 5 to 10 minutes. SPF multiplies the amount of time you can be in the sun without burning, so if it takes you ten minutes to burn, SPF 10 will protect you for 100 minutes. Treat this like training for a race -- if it takes you 10 minutes to burn, go without sunscreen for 10 minutes, then cover up. The next day, go eleven minutes, et cetera. Build a base like this, then go ahead and roast your way to skin cancer.

Baby oil makes a great tan.... IAlso, NEVER stay out in the sun too long. Also, try not to go out without sun block as too much as too much exposure to sun without block causes skin cancer. You also may want a pair o trunks instead of a whole suit if u want a full body tan.
P.S. Never go out and attempt to tan when the sun is at it's brightest. Can you say DEAD SERIOUS SUNBURN?

a tinted lotion that u apply carefully is great for tans, but it could result in streaking. if u have $$$ to spend, go for a spray tan. otherwise, use spf 15 or above, u'll still get a tan, it will just take longer. i like Mary Kay's sunscreen. nd reapply every 2 hours, otherwise u will burn nd increase ur risk of cancer

what i did was go tanning, let myself get burnt and the day the burning goes away go tanning again and you will get less burnt then before and keep doing it (for at least 2 or 3 times) and then your body will get use to it and you'll stop burning. Your burning should go away within 3 days.
