They do the same procedure no matter who is paying. A tooth below the gum line is called "Impacted". They'll cut the gum, yank it with a pry bar, then sew you up.

The procedure is the same whether you have insurance or not. On some rare occasions if it ends up to be a surgical extraction, your medical insurance will pick it up. You can contact your medical insurance to find out. We had a few patients like that. At our office we give a cash paying discount to our patients without insurance. As for the extraction itself, it all depends. It could be a simple extraction if it's just the root or if it's an impacted tooth, you will need a surgical extraction. The best person to ask is your dentist or oral surgeon. Also check with your dental insurance to see if they cover an extraction, in my experience most of them do cover it at 80%.
Hope this answers your question and good luck.

As others have said, insurance has nothing to do with it.
It sounds like you will need a surgical approach.
I don't know if you are talking abotu a wisdom tooth or a tooth that broke off. If it's a wisdom tooth, you'll need surgery. If it's a root that was left behind when the top broke off, you'll probably need surgery, but s-o-m-e-t-i-m-e-s we get lucky and removing these teeth is easier than anyone would believe. Sometimes. Sometimes it just requires a slim "elevator" placed in the right spot with just a little push and then the tooth pops out. Sometimes.

You will need surgery. They can do in right in the office but they put you to sleep. It cost me $850.00 to have 4 teeth pulled. I also had poor insurance at the time. They want their money paid in full up front. I had no choice but to use money I had saved for my taxes. I know how you feel. Maybe you could get help from the Government. It's worth a try.

they give u an injection, so u don't feel the pain, then they cut the gum, pull the tooth out, and then ur all done, your mouth would hurt for at least 2 days, and then u go to the dentist and take ur other tooth off.

If it makes you feel any better most people don't have any dental insurance whatsoever, so be thankful---Smile through the extraction :).......seriously I hope it goes well and you feel better soon. PS ... some insurance policys which do not cover dental DO in fact cover surgery for BONY impacted teeth (as opposed to flesh-impacted.) Ask your agent .

You may have to go to a oral surgeon which if you are referred the insurance is more apt to cover it.Your tooth may have to be cut out and your dentist will let you know all about this
