your kid or kids came up to you and told you that they want to be in the goth subculture?

I would be happy!!!! What about you?

I don't think it is right for people to judge and by-the-way the goth subculture is nothing to be afraid of!!!!

Well, I don't know if my children would ever come up to me and in a conscious effort tell me that they would like to align themselves with any particular subculture. If they did, I would have them tested to see if aliens took over their brains or something.

In my experience, my children evolve slowly, they take on certain mannerisms and personality traits of their friends one little bit at a time.

Whatever the situation, they are my kids, I love them, and as long as they are happy and well adjusted I will support their choices, as long as they do not pose a threat to their health and well-being.

my son never walked up to me and said anything about goth- he just became goth. I let him as long as he was safe and went to school, and didn't do anything against the law. I even enjoyed spening time with him when he would show me pictures, or tell me stories. It can be a great bonding experience with your kid, if you just take a deep breath and bite your lip. There could be alot worse things for your child to be into. And I bet you,, the child will grow out of it when something better comes along.

there is nothing wrong with this culture. it is a way for people to express themselves. so be happy about it and let them roam the world with their fresh sets of eyes.

As long as they aren't hurting themselves or others in some way, I think it's alright.

I would not be jumping for joy. I would encourage my child to do whatever it is that will make him happy.

I'd ask them to think about it, and we'll discuss it again when they outgrow it.
