Some weight problems are more complicated than others, but I see where you are coming from. I don't think it is shallow, because if you know someone with a weight problem and she turns you off, chances are you see other things in her that show a general lack of self-discipline or self-confidence.
It is not a simple matter of shallowness, we are attracted to certain people because of a wide variety of factors, looks not being the only one.
Personality, looks, outlook on life, etc.
My take...

obesity is not always controlable... but neither is being a meth addict. You pose a very interesting question. I guess it all boils down to what your preferences are. Now lets take your example of the meth addict; if a girl gets involved with the meth addict before she knows that he is and then dumps him how then is she viewed? Smart or shallow? It is all in the mind frame of the person judging them. In one sence that is smart because they are getting out of the situation. In another it is shallow because they are leaving the person when they are in a time of need. All in the eye of the beholder. if u don't want to date someone with a weight problem then don't!

I don't think it's necessary shallow to not date a woman with a weight problem. If it's a turn off to you, then fair is fair. Women make similar judgements about the men they choose to date. However, if your standard of "beauty" is that you will only date super model types, then you are probably being unrealistic. As unrealistic as a woman would be who is waiting for George Clooney to call...

a drug addict and not brushing their teeth are bad. but i won't consider a guy shallow for not dating a women with weight problem. the same goes for girls, there has to be a physical and emotionally attraction for two people to like each other or go on a date.

Doing drugs is illegal. Not brushing your teeth is unhygienic. But a guy not dating a woman who is over weight is shallow because she could have a thyroid problem?! That is a health issue she wouldn't have any control over. However, you can brush your teeth and you can quit doing drugs.

Just control your snacking at night and go jogging at least 3 times a week...another great way to meet the fellows;)

I am not saying that it is okay to just shun every overweight woman that you ever meet, but it is true however, that you will not be attracted to everything in life. I for one, do not shun out overweight men but I have not yet found myself to be sexually attracted to any of them, which is important in a relationship or even casual sex.
I say keep it open, but if an overweight woman will never strike your fancy, oh well. Just don't complain about women who are overweight. SInce you're not into them, it's not your problem.

Only fat chics would make a comment like that. Fat people are obviously irresponsible since they cannot manage their own weight.
The truth of the matter is that we live in a world where people do not want to hear the truth and hide their own inadequacies behind the veil of political correctness and sensitivity.
Besides, only losers and financial underachievers settle for "fogly" women.
Mr. M on "shallow."

Hygiene and drug habits are a little bit different than a weight issue. Some people do have a medical issue that causes them to be over weight. It's all in your personal preference in whom you decide to date.
