I agree with you compleatly.Humans are jackasses and honestly there is no religion in the world which does not condemn violence. But even if we all said no to violence there would always be at least one person who would cause riots and disrupt the peace of us and peopel around us.Plus Welll its human Nature to Destory himself.

Are you a good person? Would I find you to be a good friend and someone trustworthy to put my "faith" on? If you say yes, you can imagine you're not the only person with these characteristics. We are all capable of good. The news as a source of "how the world is" is a poor model. The news always wants to sell and shock. Having a news report about a guy that helped some family along the highway change a tire will never be on the news, but someone that held them at gun point for their money will. MOST of humanity is good. That is why in a population there is always a low number (around 5 to 10% max) with criminal records.

Well, when I say I put my trust (not 'faith') in humanity, I don't mean THAT part of humanity. Humanity is too large a concept, and I think it's unfair to put warmongers or drug dealers 'in the same bag' as honest hardworking people who earn their living within the law even though they would have the chance to break it. When I think of humanity and I say I trust them, that's the kind of people I mean. BTW, the people who give humanity a bad name may be very harmful and powerful, but they're still a very little and numerically insignificant minority.

Debra, I cannot place my faith and trust in a God that I do not believe exists. I place my faith and trust in myself first, those I know secondly, and humanity as a whole after that.
I believe that all people are inherently good. The media serves only to show us our worst examples. The truly good people go through this life doing great things, and never receiving recognition.
That is my opinion. If humanity as a whole wasn't worthy, we would have died out long ago.

i dont watch much of the news anymore. they find the worst possible scenario and report on it until the ratings begin to drop and then they look for some other horrific event.
the news stations see great tragedy as great TV and much money.
i believe in my gods, but i also have faith in humanity. for every negative person that i have met i have gotten to know at least 3 positive people. many people give to charity any time that they see a donation bucket at the local grocery store. and many more go to great lengths to make the world a better place.
try to focus on the good things that people do.

I trust humankind because I don't have a choice. Just like I have to trust that you're the kind of person you say you are.

'Twas ever thus. I'm sure you don't think you're the first to despair of humanity.
Those same destructive humans, though, recently discovered a new species of mammal in Europe -- the first in a century. (It's a mouse.) Such discoveries are the result of years and years of patient, painstaking work, often undertaken in solitude, usually with no immediate benefit in sight. Why? Because we're also creative.
Besides, now that god is dead, there's really nobody else to believe in -- is there?

Unlike you, I believe that all we have is humanity. There is nothing else to put our trust in, which is probably why we are doomed as a "civilisation" if not a species.
At the end of the day, we are animals, and will look after number 1.

it is a mistake to put faith in humanity, humans fail, thats why we need God and need to be born again, thats how God puts us right side up, the human heart is wicked above all else syas the Bible, thats why Jesus died on the cross, without the Lord all is truely hopeless, I was saved in prison the first time I went to church, I have seen the worst humans can throw and it was not in the penn, it was in the world, all the more reason I am grateful to know the Lord

Good question. I always find myself loving human kind. As much as they are who they are (doing selfish things, and that is what usually upsets me). I know inside, we are all capable of being respectable, and loving. There is just a few things that make a human mind forget that they are like everyone; usually money.
