I peirced my nose myself in Feb.2003 and had it in till Oct.2004 but had to take it out cause I worked on a cruise ship. The longest I had it out was 1 1/2 years so far and I can still put it in right now.It does close a little on the inside of my nose after having it out for long periods (months).I just push it in again. It doesnt hurt because it was already healed but since the inside of the nose is moist then that side doesnt really heal all the way.

Honestly if it's a new piercing then I would NOT take it out cause it can close in a matter of seconds. It starts to close from the inside so you will have to push it through the layer of skin that haves closed and it is a bit painful to do.
Even after it is healed it may still close if out for an hour or so. I know people who have theirs done for a year and they take theirs out for work and it closes and they have to push it back thru. Other people they can leave theirs out for a day or two and it still don't close. So it's best to leave it in as much as possible. You can get the small studs that are less noticeable.Or you can get the clear "Retainers" which are just clear jewelry that you can use instead of removing the jewelry for any extended amount of time. The retainers are less noticeable cause they are clear and that is what they are designed for. Your local tattoo Shop should sale them.

After is it fully healed, you can leave it out for deciently long periods of time. But it really depends on your skin, how it was pierced, how it healed. In your case, I would wait at least 4 months, if not 6 minimum just to be on the safe side.

I have my nostril and septum pierced, both for about a year and at this point, I can leave them out for DAYS without anything happening. But I would look into retainers for it. Most are clear, or 'flesh colored' and are so small you won't find them. Never use plastic in unhealed piercings, plastic is porous and harvests bacteria. Someone else suggested fishing like and this works GREAT for surgury too when you have to remove all your jewelry >.<

Good luck to ya.

It depends on your body, and the elasticity in your skin, and the way t heals, but usally if you have it for a number of years, you can take them out, but still not for very long. Liek someone said, if you need to hide it, there are many ways to get a hold of retainers. And if it is a newer piercing, you must wait the full wait-time told before you remove the jewelry. Don't use plastic in unhealed piercings, use glass, and then if you have a 20 gauge nostril piercing, and need to hide it, just get 30lb fishing line, and burn a tip, and use that as a fast affordable retainer....

If you really need help, go ask your piercer..

No, it will most likely close after an extended period of time, however you can go to a store that specializes in piercings and find clear spacers, which is like a clear ring that you insert into the piercing that holds is open yet is hardly visible unless you are looking for it.

Hope that helped.

After you've had it for a few years yes. Though I don't reccommend leaving it out for too long.
